Apex Legends Dev Wants the Game to Last for 20 Years

Although Apex Legends is now a successful battle royale game, it appears the developers want to maintain that status for an exceptionally very long time. The design director of Apex Legends recently discussed the game's potential and expressed his hope that it will be as popular twenty years from now as the classic Counter-Strike.

While Apex Legends Mobile, which is scheduled to be discontinued in May, may still be causing some fans grief, the main game is still active. Players are eagerly entering into Apex Legends' Season 16 to check out everything new, including the Team Deathmatch mode.

Evan Nikolich, the design director of Apex Legends, spoke with IGN in an interview about his thoughts on the game and his goals for it. Even if the game has survived for twenty years, Respawn may not continue to provide fresh improvements and material for it twenty years after its first release. The ultimate objective is that the base game has sufficient foundations and continues to be enjoyable to play, potentially even opening the door to fan-made content, even though that would certainly pleasure the development team:
"Where we want to get to is that Apex is going to last for 20 years like Counter-Strike... It has to be able to be self-sufficient and stand on its own. The systems have to be strong and interesting and good for players to play season over season, even if we're not adding new bespoke content. But there'll always be some attending there in terms of creating interesting choice, creating interesting challenge and shifting the rule set that builds the healthiest game."

Nikolich continued by saying that there are still a lot of improvements and additions to come for Apex Legends, likening it to the beginning of basketball as a sport. Even though Apex Legends has been available for five years, players continue to enjoy seasonal upgrades and new content. Season 16 of Apex Legends doesn't have a brand-new legend to play as; instead, it concentrates on balancing the currently available playable characters. However, based on Nikolich's statements, a lot of the content in Apex Legends is still in the planning or creation stages.

For fans of the franchise, the idea that Apex Legends will still be a favorite in twenty years is probably bittersweet. Since its release, Apex Legends has had a lot of popularity, despite the fact that the Titanfall games it was an offshoot from have had trouble gaining ground. Other Titanfall spin-off projects were shelved while they were still in development, and Titanfall: Assault has been shut down for years. However, many players still cling to the hope that the games that started it all would receive some sort of continuation.

Apex Legends has established a spot for itself among battle royale games, despite the fact that it may not be the game that every player wanted. Fans of Apex Legends will have a very bright future if the developers are successful in their quest. Even if a new Titanfall game is never released, most people probably think that Apex Legends keeping the Titanfall universe alive is a positive thing.
