Everspace 2 Confirms PC Release Date

The long-awaited release date for Everspace 2, the follow-up to the popular sci-fi roguelike from ROCKFISH Games, has finally been announced. After spending two years in Early Access, the PC game is now shifting to a full release.

Everspace 2 is another instance of how Steam's Early Access program has been successful since the developer was able to put the money raised from early adopters back into the game's development. Many additional video games have found success with the concept; among the most notable grads are Ark: Survival Evolved, DayZ, and Kerbal Space Program. By offering thorough development roadmaps for Everspace 2 throughout Early Access, ROCKFISH Games got it properly. Every game that completely launches can be considered a success because it's simple for many titles to get stuck in Early Access limbo.

When Everspace 2 exits Early Access on April 6, the release date trailer also serves as a story trailer, letting potential players know what to anticipate. After the game's initial Early Access release in January 2021, two years of regular updates were released. Everspace 2's initial Early Access launch, according to ROCKFISH Games, exceeded all of their expectations. As the game is simply too demanding for last-gen systems to operate, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions are tentatively scheduled for release sometime in Summer 2023.

There are several down sides of Everspace 2's complete release for gamers. On February 20, ROCKFISH Games will raise the price of the game from $39.99 to $49.99 because it now resembles a more finished product. Since the game won't be available for purchase prior to this date, this is your last chance, at least temporarily, to purchase Everspace 2 for less money. Everspace 2's production budget was increased as a result of Xbox Game Pass, according to the developer. This allowed ROCKFISH Games to make a significantly bigger game, which accounts for the higher final cost.

It's unknown how long ROCKFISH Games plans to support Everspace 2 after launch now that the game is approaching full release. Fans may anticipate more information after the game officially enters Steam Early Access, but the developer has revealed plans for a major paid DLC at some point in the future. Players can check at the 2017 version of the original Everspace, which has a large post-launch addition.
