Rumor: New Call of Duty Warzone 2 Map May Hint at Next Black Ops Game

An upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops game may have been found thanks to an official blog post on the most recent map in Call of Duty: Warzone 2. Due to Treyarch's everytime narrative decisions and excellent characters, Black Ops titles have always been a fan favorite within the Call of Duty franchise. Despite the fact that Activision appears to be giving Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone 2 its full support for the foreseeable future, this new information may spark rumors.

In the first Call of Duty: Black Ops, players interacted with characters like Mason, Woods, and Hudson as they learned about the Cold War battle. Since then, the Black Ops series has visited the distant past, including World War II, and the present. The Black Ops series has a large and devoted fanbase among Call of Duty games. Despite the fact that players do appreciate Call of Duty: Modern Warfare games, the most recent Modern Warfare 2 has turned off many fans. The safest course of action if Activision wants to win back the support of its following is to bring back this fan-favorite series.

Although this may appear to be a harmless information dump regarding the lore of the new map, players are right to assume that Activision may be leaving clues. Previous speculation about the upcoming mainstream Call of Duty game stated that it would be set during the Gulf War hostilities. Furthermore, a second rumor about the Call of Duty Zombies timing supports this one. Even though it's not a 100% guarantee, the schedule for Ashika Island described in the blog post fits very nicely.

If the reports are true, Treyarch will be groundbreaking by trying to make a game that takes place in such close proximity to the present day. The Gulf War conflicts haven't received nearly as much attention from Activision as the settings of Black Ops and Modern Warfare games have. But until the formal confirmation comes, supporters should take precautions and refrain from believing any rumors. Call of Duty players can currently experience Ashika Island and all the secrets that come with it when Season 2 debuts on February 15.
