Over 30 million people simultaneously played video games
on October 23rd, according to SteamDB. The most well-known of these were
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Apex Legends, Lost Ark, Dota 2, Counter-Strike:
Global Offensive, and (PUBG). Not all 30 million gamers were actively
participating in a specific game, but most probably were perusing the Steam
Store, discussing in community forums, and more.
The worldwide health crisis has repeatedly caused Steam's
concurrent user count to exceed one million. The peak concurrent user count was
27.3 million over Thanksgiving weekend in 2021. Only a few weeks later, it had
28 million simultaneous users. It has now, for the first time, reached the
milestone of 30 million modern users after another month of sustained
development
