Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising Will Have An Open Beta Tournament At EVO 2023

The new Granblue-based fighting game Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising, developed by Cygames, will be showcased at the famous EVO event. One of the most famous esports competitions ever is the Evolution Championship Series or EVO. This competition includes a variety of competitive fighting games and serves as a showcase for new fighting games. Even though EVO 2023's lineup has already been determined, Cygames' future fighting game will be playable there.

Near the end of January, Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising and the equally highly anticipated Granblue Fantasy: Relink were first announced at Granblue Fes 2023. Rising in particular stood out because it added several features that players had been asking for but that the first game lacked, like cross-platform play and rollback netcode. Also, a large number of new mechanics have been included, and the roster has been extended. The devoted community will get the opportunity to test it out later this Summer.

The producers of Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising will host an open beta tournament Las Vegas, according to the information posted on the game's official Twitter account. Players in this open beta competition will probably help the game gain more traction before release, despite the fact that it wasn't chosen to be featured at EVO, especially given that it is expected to debut sometime this year.

Supporters point out that the COVID-19 epidemic hindered Cygames' first release of Granblue Fantasy: Versus, which prevented the game's reach and popularity from reaching their full potential. The pandemic had similarly affected EVO for a few years, forcing the cancellation of the 2020 physical event and the replacement of it with an exclusive online open tournament before the tournament was formally canceled as a result of a number of allegations made against the tournament's original founder.

The next time EVO held an actual tournament was in 2022, and that year's edition included the first Granblue Fantasy Versus among other recently released fighting games. Rising is probably still a ways off from release and won't be joining the list of other fighting games that will be launched in 2023 given that the game will have an open beta tournament during the 2023 event. For instance, Street Fighter 6 will be highlighted at EVO as it will have been available for around a month prior to the actual competition. Fans will have the chance to play Rising for the first time later in August, thus it appears that Cygames is positioning it as the onlya to play.
